MEZCAL TASTING GUIDE

Inspired by a journey to Oaxaca to tour palenques (where traditional mezcales are made) and Mexico City to tour foodie spots (where many mezcales were enjoyed), I designed this guide to help steer the palate conversations for those new to this complex spirit. The main chart consists of 8 distinct flavor areas with offshoots that sometimes dare to connect unexpectedly. The aspects listed in the lower right are all variables that can affect how the drink’s characteristics might be shaped from soil to bottle.

 

POSTERS FOR WFPK’S NIGHT VISIONS RADIO

Louisville’s most celebrated kings of sweaty, late nights on the dance floor, OKDeeJays, hosted a concert series of some of my favorite acts of 2019— so I was thrilled to hook them up with promotional posters when Thundercat and Unknown Mortal Orchestra came to Headliners Music Hall.

She never saw it coming when the book she received as a Christmas gift contained these six bookmarks tucked throughout, each of which admitted the newly formed duo into a fantastic musical, comedy, theatre, or sports event.

Inspired by their track "Time Bomb", this was just an afternoon project during one of our early Drinking & Drawing sessions.

 

BITTER ENDSVILLE

When I got a book on how to make bitters, I wasted no time experimenting and soon had created a line of craft cocktail bitters in enough flavors to "pick your poison". While the recipes are secret, they all use the traditional roots, herbs, and bittering agents but add a spin with unique ingredients like hibiscus, kiwi, and gooseberries I got on the side of the road during a South African motorcycle trip.

 

A LITTLE PRIVATE CLUB

I got the chance to go to Two Rivers, Wisconsin to stay in Frank Lloyd Wright's Usonian "dream home", the Bernard Schwartz house, also known as Still Bend. To document the journey, Dustin and I created a short film on location set to the sounds of our own electronic tinkering on various vintage synthesizers.
